Antique wooden game token set – France or England – Late 19th century



Description

Elegant box of antique gaming tokens, dating from the late 19th century, probably of French or English origin. It contains a rich collection of tokens of various shapes, colors, and materials, accompanied by old dice.

The box is made of veneered wood with an elegant marquetry pattern (a black diamond in the center of the lid). The interior is lined with original green paper, well-preserved, with compartments carefully arranged.

Contents of the box:
Round wooden tokens, painted os (red, yellow, violet, white, black, etc.)
rectangular tokens
• 3 old dice made from bone or ivory.
Interior with six distinct compartments and a central circular compartment.




State

Good overall condition, wear consistent with age (see photos).
The interior green coating is original and shows some signs of use.
Structurally sound box, functional hinges. Missing marquetry and one of the two closure systems, and the top has suffered some deformations.
