Art Deco pressed glass vase in aubergine, model Luxval N°98 by Val Saint Lambert (Belgium), dating from the 1930s, 23 cm high, 13 cm diameter, with a square-based octagonal foot and a moulded relief geometric decor, signed VAL ST. LAMBERT and displaying very good condition with minor age-related wear at the base.
Description from the seller
Art Deco pressed glass vase, made by the Val Saint-Lambert manufacture (Belgium), circa 1935.
This vase belongs to the Luxval line, an emblematic series developed by Val Saint-Lambert in the mid-1930s, intended for high-quality pressed glass Art Deco production. The model is identified as Luxval No. 98, referenced in the 1935 Luxval catalog.
The shape is slightly tapered and flared, resting on an octagonal stepped base. The decoration, entirely molded in relief, consists of geometric and architectural motifs arranged in vertical and horizontal registers, alternating smooth surfaces and textured areas. The overall design perfectly illustrates the formal vocabulary of late Art Deco, inspired by modernist architecture of the interwar period.
The glass is aubergine in color (dark purple / violet-brown), a deep and elegant hue achieved throughout the mass, which is rarer than clear glass in Luxval production. The material exhibits a beautiful transparency and a uniform depth of color.
The vase bears the molded signature at the bottom, in accordance with Luxval productions from before the war.
