Magnificent work of the painter, art appraisal.
Oscar Sogaro (Dolo 14/09/1888 – Venice 13/12/1967) oil painting on a wooden panel in good condition.
The artwork measures 48.5 x 39.5 cm.
The frame is original from the period.
The original signature on the front was faded and had been deliberately covered with paint.
A retro sign reading Sogaro 10 and various inventory tags.
Oscar Sogaro attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna under the guidance of Domenico Ferri and graduated with the ministerial prize in his final course. He debuted as a painter in Bologna during the First World War, exhibiting at the Venice Exhibition.
He was a student of Pietro Fragiacomo mainly regarding the landscapes of the last period called 'armonie del silenzio'. In 1900, he was part of the movement of the 'rebels of Cà Pesaro' along with other painters of the caliber of Umberto Moggioli, Felice Castegnaro, Mario Disertori, Pio Semeghini, Pieretto Bianco, and others.
Exhibited in Venice at La Biennale d’Arte from 1922 to 1935 and at Cà Pesaro. Other exhibitions were held in Milan, Rome, Padua, Brussels, and Trieste.
The painter of the glorious Cà Pesaro group addressed, within the scope of Venetian art and tradition, the figure (psychological portrait), still life, and especially the landscape (delicate visions of the lagoon and the Brenta in their transcoloring).
Their artworks are located at the Municipality and the Cassa di Risparmio di Venezia, in the D’Angelo collections of Venice and the Costantini collections of Padua, as well as with private collectors.
