Architectural capital made of natural stone, likely limestone or sandstone, dating to the XVII–XIX century, in antique style, measuring 30 × 30 cm with a height of 24 cm, beige colour, in good used condition with signs of age.
Description from the seller
Architectural capital in natural stone – an antique decorative element
Architectural capital made of carved natural stone, likely soft limestone / sandstone, materials widely used in Italian historical architecture for their workability and durability over time.
The surface exhibits a porous and uniform grain, typical of sedimentary stones, with a natural patina and signs consistent with age.
The shape is compact and harmonious, with molded profiles and a stylized decorative motif on the sides. At the top, there is a central hole, probably intended for housing a structural element (column, pin, or architectural overlay).
Materials
Limestone / sandstone (hand-carved natural stone)
Dating:
Probable period: 17th–19th century
Reasons
Material in limestone / sandstone, widely used between the modern age and pre-industrial period.
Manual processing with chisel marks and imperfect surfaces.
Simple and compact door models, typical of rural, civil, or secondary religious architecture.
Central functional hub (pin/insert), common in pre-19th century structural capitals.
Patina and wear consistent with long exposure and actual architectural use.
Measures
30 × 30 cm
Height: 24 cm
Conditions:
Good overall condition
Shows normal signs of age, with slight surface erosions and micro irregularities that confirm its authenticity and original architectural use. Structurally solid, without significant breaks.
Ideal as a decorative object, sculpture base, garden ornament, interior decor in rustic, wabi-sabi, or historic architecture styles, as well as for collectors of ancient architectural fragments.
The input is a dash character, which does not require translation.
