Göran Gimdal, Untitled, oil on canvas, original edition from the 1970s, signed, framed, in good condition, Sweden.
Description from the seller
This vivid and expressive painting is a characteristic work by Swedish artist Göran Gimdal, known for his powerful, instinctive approach to painting and his place within contemporary Scandinavian abstraction.
Executed in oil on canvas, the composition features two stylized, almost mythic blue figures set against a radiant yellow and warm ochre background. The figures appear locked in an animated exchange, their exaggerated eyes, teeth, and gestural hands conveying tension, humor, and raw emotion. Thick, confident brushstrokes and high-contrast color relationships give the work a strong sense of movement and immediacy, emphasizing the physical act of painting itself.
The painting is signed “Gimdal” on the front and bears a handwritten inscription and signature on the reverse.
Canvas: 37 × 45 cm
Frame: 41 × 49 cm
