France-made decorative gilt stucco console in Baroque revival style dating to ca. 1910–1920, measuring 27 cm high, 25 cm wide and 14 cm deep, in good used condition with minor signs of age and imperfections.
Description from the seller
Decorative stucco bracket, made in the early 20th century in the baroque revival style, with clear influence from 17th-century ornamental models. The piece features a vertical structure with a circular upper platform, designed to hold decorative objects or devotional images, and a body richly decorated with scrolls, acanthus leaves, volutes, and relief vegetal motifs, all crafted with dynamism and symmetry.
Gold applied over stucco imitates the finish of carved gilded wood, adding shine and theatricality, while the contrasts of color—reds, blacks, and golds—enhance the scenographic character of the piece. This type of corbel was common in historicist interiors, domestic altars, or bourgeois salons, where the aim was to evoke Baroque splendor with more accessible materials.
Its condition and ornamental richness make it a valuable object for collectors of decorative arts, religious imagery, or furniture inspired by the Baroque style.
Certified shipping and good packaging.
