Secessionist-style pitcher, the body in hammered glass with the rest silver-plated, made by Armand Frenais Silvermith in Italy, dating to 1910–1920, height 26 cm, width 17 cm, depth 14 cm, diameter 14 cm, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Secessionist brooch, the body is made of thick hammered glass and the rest is silver-plated, by the silversmith Armand Frenais Silvermith.
The jug bears all floral decorations and the silversmith's hallmarks.
Armand Frenais was one of the most prestigious Parisian silversmiths of the Belle Époque, known for challenging the dominance of giants like Christofle through the production of items of the highest quality in both solid silver and silver-plated metal. Active from the mid-1800s to the early decades of the 1900s, the manufactory distinguished itself by using resistant alloys such as alpaca and brass, as well as an exclusive 'extra-white metal' that ensured a superior shine. The identity of the production is linked to the famous hallmark depicting an anchor flanked by the initials 'AF,' a symbol that underwent several graphic evolutions over the decades, allowing today to precisely date the pieces and distinguish the different historical phases of this French house of art.
