A lot of four Gien faience plates from France, dating to ca. 1850–1890, each 25 cm in diameter and in good used condition with minor aging traces, representing four historicist décors (polychrome floral with butterfly, wide yellow-gilded rim with Renaissance cartouches and central heraldry, blue underglaze with neo‑Renaissance heraldry, and large polychrome grotesques inspired by 16th‑century Italian maiolica).

Set of four antique Gien faience plates from the 19th century, originating from different iconic series of the manufacturer.
This collection presents a representative overview of Gien's historicist production, blending Renaissance décors, grotesques, coats of arms, and naturalist motifs that were very fashionable in the 19th century.
We have
Polychrome floral decorative plate with butterfly, in the naturalist style, with a scalloped edge.
Plate with a wide yellow border adorned with Renaissance cartouches and large central coats of arms, aristocratic decor.
Blue-decorated covered plate with heraldry inspired by neo-Renaissance.
A large plate with grotesque polychrome decorations inspired by 16th-century Italian majolica.
All the plates date from the years between 1850 and 1890.
It is quite rare today to find 19th-century Gien plates in perfect condition. None have chips or cracks.
