Alexandre Petrus (1988) - RED PANDA

TITLE : RED PANDA ARTIST : Alexandre Petrus (AP) TECHNIQUE : Hand-cut multi-layer stencil and spray paint SUPPORT : Cotton canvas DIMENSIONS : 61 x 46 x 2 cm YEAR OF CREATION : 2025 SIGNATURE : Hand-signed on the back – “AP” monogram sprayed on the front AUTHENTICITY : Original artwork delivered with a signed certificate of authenticity CONDITION : Mint ABOUT THE ARTWORK In this piece, I chose to capture the red panda in a suspended moment — neither fully at rest nor in motion, but balanced on the edge of alertness. Lying across the branch, the body appears relaxed, yet the gaze remains sharp, watchful, aware. This duality is central to the artwork: calm on the surface, tension underneath. The elongated composition reinforces this feeling of latent movement. The branch cuts horizontally through the space, anchoring the figure while simultaneously suggesting escape, agility, and elevation. The red panda becomes a silent observer, an animal that survives through discretion rather than force. The dense pattern of short, repeated strokes builds the fur almost obsessively, creating a vibrating texture that contrasts with the darker, more compact shadows beneath the body. This visual rhythm generates a quiet tension — a sense that the stillness could break at any second. The cool, mineral-toned background amplifies the mood. It isolates the subject, stripping away narrative context and transforming the animal into a symbol rather than a simple representation. Here, the red panda embodies adaptability, fragility, and resilience — a creature perfectly tuned to its environment, yet constantly threatened by it. As in my other animal works, this piece plays with the balance between instinct and structure. The background is raw and instinctive; the figure is controlled, deliberate, and sharply defined. The result is an image that feels both gentle and charged, inviting prolonged contemplation rather than immediate consumption. ABOUT THE ARTIST I am a French stencil artist working between street art, pop culture, and contemporary painting. My work is based on a hand-cut stencil technique combined with spontaneous, textured backgrounds, creating a dialogue between instinct and precision. I explore iconic figures, animals, and mythological subjects through a reduced graphic language, seeking maximum visual impact with minimal elements. Each artwork I create is an original piece. Even when reusing my stencils, the background, gestures, textures, and energy are always different, making every work unique. My approach values originality in repetition and builds a strong, recognizable artistic identity across my series. I have created murals and live paintings throughout France and regularly collaborate with private collectors, companies, and cultural events. My work is intended to be accessible yet powerful, contemporary yet timeless. SHIPPING The artwork will be carefully packed and shipped with professional protective materials to ensure safe delivery.
