French Solid Silver - Serving spoon - Paris 1819–1824, Vieillard Mark, Master Basile Chenailler

Authentic French solid silver serving spoon, made in Paris during the Restoration period. The spoon bears two official French state hallmarks: the Vieillard head in octagonal cartouche (used 1819–1838), indicating first standard silver (950/1000), a circular auxiliary control mark, consistent with the same period. The diamond-shaped maker’s mark “B·C”, accompanied by two birds, is attributed to Basile Chenailler, Parisian silversmith, registered in 1807 and struck off in 1824. This allows a precise dating of the piece to 1819–1824. Elegant early 19th-century French form, high-quality workmanship, well-balanced proportions. Preserved in excellent, polished condition, with clear and legible marks. Details Origin: Paris, France Date: 1819–1824 Maker: Basile Chenailler Material: Solid silver Silver fineness: 950/1000 Length: 21 cm Weight: 85 g Condition: Excellent A genuine Restoration-period French silver spoon, suitable for collectors of early 19th-century European silver.
