Description of the work

The work depicts an intimate and timeless scene: three naked young women are gathered in a bath reminiscent of an ancient hammam or thermae. The architecture, composed of delicate mosaics, stone columns, and steam play, evokes a confined, protective, and timeless space, at the border between the Orient and classical antiquity.
The composition is centered on the female figure immersed in water, whose upward, contemplative gaze establishes an emotional tension point. The other two women, sitting on either side of the basin, lean towards her with tenderness. Their gestures are measured, almost ritualistic, conveying a relationship of closeness, care, and silent solidarity.
The treatment of the flesh is characteristic of Gyl's sensitive realism: the flesh tones are luminous, sculpted by soft, diffuse light, never falling into excessive idealization.
