Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Italian mid-century sofa from the 1950s, in excellent condition with only minor wear and signs of age.
Description from the seller
In addition, a splendid Italian-made sofa from the mid-1950s, an authentic example of 'organic' design from the Mid-Century period.
The style is the classic 'a pozzetto' or 'a fagiolo', characterized by sinuous, sculptural, and enveloping shapes that depart from the rigidity of rationalist design, embracing the soft aesthetics typical of the Italian Economic Boom.
For its craftsmanship and stylistic quality, the piece is attributable to the high-end Brianzola production of the era, with strong references to Gigi Radice's style (for Minotti) or to ISA Bergamo's productions.
The distinctive and most valuable element of the sofa is the original supports.
Black enameled metal cone heels, 'needle' shaped, typical of the 1950s.
Brass tips equipped with an articulated system: a refined technical detail that allows the foot to adapt perfectly to the floor, indicating craftsmanship that is not economical but of high quality.
Structure: Solid, stable, and intact. The frame shows no obvious signs of failure.
Covering: Currently upholstered in floral-patterned 'cretonne' fabric on a bordeaux background. The fabric appears intact, taut, and without obvious tears except for a small tear about one centimeter long at the lower front, visible in the photo, and a small seam rip, complete with piping.
Metals: The small feet display the natural patina of time on brass, which adds charm and authenticity to the object.
A perfect opportunity for architects, interior designers, or enthusiasts seeking an authentic 1950s shell to invest in. With a new velvet upholstery (ocean blue, mustard, or forest green), this sofa becomes a high-end statement piece for any contemporary living room.
On-site pickup, or shipping and packaging at the buyer's expense and responsibility to be calculated after the auction.
