In 1912, De Gerofabriek was founded by Marius Gerritsen, a member of the famous silver family Gerritsen. In the early years, he was co-director with Henri Simonis. Although Gero soon faced the consequences of the First World War after its establishment, the collection was expanded, and alongside cutlery, various household items were produced in Gero silver (silver-plated).
