Description from the seller
Pair of upholstered armchairs in carved wood and velvet – Louis Philippe / Second Empire style, late 19th – early 20th century
Important pair of antique armchairs, made with a solid structure in hardwood, probably walnut, finely carved according to the decorative taste of the 19th century. The armchairs feature high, shaped backs, enriched with button-tufted upholstery, which adds depth and refinement to the overall design.
The wide armrests, elegantly wrapped in a spiral, and the moving front legs highlight the decorative character and the craftsmanship quality of the work. The generous and well-proportioned seat guarantees high comfort, making these furnishings suitable for both everyday use and formal settings.
The green velvet upholstery, probably renewed or otherwise well preserved, is in harmony with the historical tradition of the period and enhances the elegant and scenic aspect of the armchairs.
Period: late 19th century / early 20th century
Style: Luigi Filippo – Second Empire
Origin: probably Italy or France.
Materials: solid wood (probably walnut), velvet.
Good overall condition, with normal signs of aging consistent with its age, which attest to its authenticity.
