Description from the seller

Ancient solid bronze mortar, complete with original pestle, featuring a classic truncated conical shape with a slightly flared rim and a shaped, raised base.

The surface displays a natural dark patina, with widespread green-brown oxidations, particularly evident inside, typical of bronze aging and indicative of authenticity. The interior shows signs of use consistent with prolonged use over time, likely in a domestic or pharmaceutical setting.

The pestle, also made of bronze, is well proportioned, with a rounded handle and even wear.

Defects
A chip on the lower edge of the base, clearly visible in the photo. The defect is localized, non-structural, and does not compromise the stability or functionality of the mortar. No cracks or through breaks detected.

Measures
• Upper diameter: about 12 cm
Height: about 10 cm
Length of pestle: about 20 cm

Total weight
approximately 2.5 kg

Epoch: 18th–19th century (estimate)
Material: Bronze
Good overall condition, with signs of use and defects consistent with age.

Authentic and decorative object, ideal for collectors, historic kitchens, old pharmacies, or rustic environments.
