Vintage Massive Bug Eye Space Age pendant lamp in white plastic with transparent panels, width 40 cm and height 20 cm (depth 40 cm), cable length up to 110 cm, E27 fitting (suitable for LED lamps; not included), Belgian-made by Massive in good used condition with minor signs of aging dating to the 1960s–1970s, inspired by Futuro design.
Description from the seller
Vintage Bug eye - Space age hanger van Massive - 1960s-70s.
Manufactured in the spacetime era during the 1960s-70s, but also called Bug-eye due to its resemblance. Often attributed to designer Luigi Colani, but that is not correct. The shape is likely inspired by the Futuro house, designed in 1968 by Finnish architect Matti Suuronen.
This hanging lamp made of white plastic with transparent windows is produced by the Belgian lighting company Massive. Massive was founded in 1926 and originally started as a bronze foundry manufacturing candles and chandeliers. Years later, they specialized in lighting, which led to significant expansion in the 1970s. In the 1980s, Massive became one of the leading lighting companies across Europe. In 2008, Philips acquired Massive.
Generally in good condition. Windows with minor imperfections.
This lamp also comes in other colors (flashy green, orange, blue, brown).
Specs:
Width: ø 40cm.
Height: 20 cm
Length: including cable, maximum 110cm.
Fitting: E27 (also suitable for LED lamps - not included) original porcelain fitting.
Condition: overall above average. Without cracks. Light signs of use and age.
A vintage Space Age design classic and a timeless eye-catcher that looks great in any interior.
Sold without minimum reserve.
Carefully packed and shipped with track & trace including insurance.
