Description from the seller
This original Mini Cooper British Open was built in 1998 and is in fantastic condition.
Equipped with the powerful 1.3 MPI Cooper engine, deep black lacquer (Piano Black), a large electric sliding roof, and a black leather interior.
With only 70,500 km on the odometer, this Mini is in exceptionally beautiful condition. Originally finished in Piano Black with a black leather interior, it features a large electric sunroof, wide 13” Sportspack wheels, Cooper S striping and decals, and many new chrome accents.
A special detail is the optional Cooper rear bumper, which makes this Mini extra exclusive.
The interior is finished in black leather with a black piping. The complete carpet is neat and black, the electric sunroof works perfectly and is in very good condition. The dashboard is finished in Piano Black and equipped with 6 white Magnolia Smiths gauges, a Mini CW mat set, and a leather Cooper S steering wheel with airbag.
Exterior
Delivered in 1998 in the original and highly sought-after black color. The unilak is in very nice condition.
Equipped with wide Sportspack wideners, matching 6x13-inch wheels, and tires with very good tread.
Equipped with an exclusive dual sport exhaust system that retains the original catalytic converter. This results in a deep and sporty sound.
The large electric sliding sunroof covers almost the entire roof. The window and door rubbers are in good condition, equipped with chrome window frames and new chrome front and rear bumpers.
The grille is original and damage-free. It is also equipped with four Hella spotlights for optimal lighting.
Further equipped with green-tinted glass, silver-colored Cooper striping and decals, two Union Jack badges on the A-panels, original GB badge on the tailgate, and original Wing badges.
The chrome door handles and tailgate lock are in new condition.
A very neat Mini with minor signs of use appropriate for its age, but in exceptionally good condition.
Interior
One of the most luxurious and exclusive editions of the Classic Mini.
The interior is fully finished in black leather, including the front seats, rear bench, door panels, and side panels, all with black piping.
The dashboard was repainted in body color in 2020 and equipped with six Smiths instruments.
Equipped with a black leather MINI steering wheel with airbag and a matching John Cooper gear shift knob.
The black carpet is in very good condition. The beige headliner has been used, but is tidy.
A breathtakingly beautiful Mini with high-quality finishing and many luxury options.
Technique
The original 1275cc MPI Cooper engine is matching numbers and is in good condition. It has recently been serviced.
The cylinder head is lead-free, allowing Euro 95 or other fuels to be fueled without issues.
Equipped with front disc brakes with a large brake booster, which functions perfectly.
The Mini handles sharply, and the tires offer excellent grip.
The sports exhaust system provides a nice deep and dark sound.
In October 2024, the cylinder head was fully revised, including a new gasket, resurfacing of the head, replacement of the cooling system, and fluids. Additionally, the catalyst and lambda sensor were replaced.
Suspension & Brakes
The suspension is in good condition; the original shock absorbers are functioning correctly.
Equipped with new brake discs (2019), also installed new brake calipers at the time and fitted original brake pads.
Many hanging rubbers have been replaced with polyurethane rubbers.
The floor is solid, previously repaired neatly without damage. Subframes and load-bearing parts are in very good condition.
Standard equipped with brake assist, which works perfectly.

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration.
