Description from the seller
David Hockney
Photographer
This book features for the first time a hundred photographs out of the approximately thirty thousand taken over the last twenty years by David Hockney. He has indeed agreed to exhibit them and appreciated the project so much that he wanted to create works specifically for this purpose, assemblages of photographs that demonstrate his original approach to vision.
Beyond their intrinsic charm, these photographs – landmarks in a personal diary intertwining travels, studies, models, and friends – are fascinating for what they reveal about the painter's life and for the new light they shed on his work. With their characteristic immediacy and vibrancy, David Hockney explains the role of photography in his painting and offers a unique perspective on the relationship between painting and photography.
Hockney D.; Photographer. Hardcover, dust jacket, 22 x 31 cm, 126 pages, French language; Paris, Centre Georges Pompidou / Herscher, 1982.
The volume is presented in good overall condition. The dust jacket shows slight signs of use and some yellow stains as shown in the photos. The binding is secure. Inner pages are clean, without creases or significant stains. A good collectible copy.
