Lot with 4 issues of 'De 8 and Opbouw 14-Day Magazine of the architect group ,,De 8
From year 9, issue:
No. 4 - February 26, 1938
No. 7 - 9 April 1938
- No. 10- May 21, 1938
No. 12/13 - June 25, 1938
The latter number, a 'double-issue', entirely devoted to the designs and interiors for large passenger ships.
Condition: All issues good to very good, except for issue 7, which has slight foxing and wear on cover.
All issues complete with original covers.
De 8 en Opbouw was the most significant avant-garde periodical of united Dutch architects from the major cities Amsterdam and Rotterdam in the 1930s. De 8 was the mouthpiece for the New Objectivity movement in architecture. It focused on architecture, interior design, various applied arts, criticism, and other related subjects. Collaborators included, among others: Paul Schuitema, who also designed many of the striking covers and layouts for numerous issues, the photographer and designer Piet Zwart, as well as many other architects and designers of iconic buildings and designs from the pre-war era.
