From year 7 (1936), 2 issues: - Nr. 19, 19 september 1936: * Special issue on 'Gaanderijwoningen' in the Netherlands and other foreign countries, with a small obituary to the Dutch architect Jan Duiker on first page - Condition: Good, with slight age wear - Nr. 24/25, 5 december 1936: * Double issue, 'Scholen-nummer', special on the design and furnishing of schools according to modernist standards, with contributions by C. van Eesteren, Richard J. Neutra, J.B. van Loghem and others - Condition: Paper on bottom slight damaged, small piece of cover lower corner cut out, else good From year 10 (1939), 1 issue: - Nr. 17/ 18, 2 september 1939 * Double issue on 'Functionele buitenwanden', published results of specific research in Holland on 'functional exteriorwalls', an 'enquête' initiated by the C.I.A.M./ International Congress for Modern Architecture. The 'Enquête' was an international scaled investigation on this subject. Because of scientific developments in materials and construction, architects and contractors could apply new methods for housing. A series of questions were posed to find out the best applications and materials used in exterior walls, in relation to climate, isolation qualities, costs, etc. The issue was edited by J.B. van Loghem and Koen Limperg, both architects, and drawings were made by A. Elzas and G. Arpeau, ads by building contractors - Condition: Fine From year 11 (1941), 1 issue: - Nr. 13/ 14, 28 juni 1941: * Double issue, with a.o. an obituary to architect W. Kromhout (1864-1940) and interior designs of offices, livingrooms, shipcabin, medical office, shopinterior etc. by Van Gelderen, Brusse, Kammer & Kammer-Kret, Van Bodegraven, Kluyver - Condition: Cover edges slight browned, interior very good * All issues complete with original covers * See photo's ¶ 'De 8 en Opbouw' was the most significant avant-garde periodical of united Dutch architects from the major cities Amsterdam and Rotterdam in the 1930's. 'De 8' was the mouthpiece for the New Objectivity movement in architecture. It focussed on architecture, interior design, various applied arts, criticism and other related subjects. Collaborators were, a.o.: Paul Schuitema, who also designed many of the striking covers and lay-outs for many of the issues, the photographer and designer Piet Zwart, as well as many other architects and designers of iconic buildings and designs of the pre-war era [total 4]
