Description from the seller
Pair of slender vases, made of glass, characterized by an intense dark green color and decorated with gold that evoke the Liberty style (Art Nouveau).
The vases present an elegant and slender silhouette. The base is flared and decorated, providing stability, while the body tapers then widens again towards the top, culminating in a wavy and asymmetrical opening, typical of the organic forms of Liberty. Despite the similarity, subtle differences can be noticed in the curves and the arrangement of the decorations, handcrafted.
The deep emerald green of the glass, whether opaque or satin-finished, contrasts beautifully with the gold decorations, creating a luxurious and sophisticated effect. The upper edge and some parts of the base show signs of wear on the gold, giving an aged and authentic appearance.
Decorations are the focal point of the Liberty style. Stylized floral motifs are present, with roses or peonies drawn in a curvilinear manner and vegetal branches that wind along the body of the vases. The floral details are rendered with fine lines and solid gold fills, creating an almost two-dimensional effect, typical of prints and Art Nouveau arts.
Elegance and refinement: The combination of rich colors and elaborate decorations creates a sense of luxury and craftsmanship.
The superior apertures and the shapes of the vessels display a charming asymmetry, breaking away from the rigidity of earlier eras.
Overall, these vases are an excellent example of Liberty decorative art objects, combining functionality and aesthetics, representing an era of great artistic innovation.
