Description from the seller
We are pleased to present at auction a magnificent Zeiss Ikon Ikoflex IIA, model 855/16, produced in Stuttgart between 1952 and 1956. This bi-ocular reflex camera represents Zeiss's high engineering response to the dominance of Rolleiflex, distinguished by an entirely metal and robust construction that conveys solidity from the first touch. The unit features the acclaimed Zeiss-Opton Tessar 75mm f/3.5 lens, a four-element optic renowned for its sharpness and ability to produce clear, detailed images, supported by a precise and reliable Synchro-Compur central shutter.
The camera is in good overall condition, as highlighted by the attached technical notes. The body is well preserved, and all mechanical functions are operational: the shutter fires correctly at all speeds, including slow shutter speeds, and the 120 film transport works properly. A highlight of this specimen is the cleanliness of the optics, free of scratches or mold, and the viewfinder, whose clean mirror ensures a clear and pleasant view for composing shots. Completing the lot is its original brown leather case, visible in the photo, which has preserved its aesthetic over the decades. This piece represents a part of post-war German photography history, making it ideal both for the discerning collector and for those who wish to shoot in medium format with a timeless classic.
