Description from the seller
"Asparagus" in a part of the series: Plastic Vegetables. The size is 30x40 and has a small white border. The print is on Ilford Galerie Prestige, and the edition is number 3 of 20.
Plastic Vegetables is a photo series by Ursula van de Bunte that photographs packaged vegetables as 17th-century still lifes. By combining the atmosphere of old masters with cellophane, a sharp contrast is created: what appears beautiful also tells an uncomfortable story. The series exposes how commonplace plastic packaging has become—and invites viewers to look again at what we normally no longer see. The anachronism is at the core: many people no longer see plastic as strange, but as 'normal'.
Ursula's studio is located in a monumental building on the IJssel in the Hanseatic city of Kampen. She exhibits her work in museums, galleries, and at international art fairs.
