English pocket watch with reference 38017, dating from 1850–1900, in a 50 mm silver case with a hand-wound movement.
Description from the seller
A stylish Victorian sterling silver pocket watch with key-winding.
This is a beautiful example of a classic English pocket watch from the Victorian era, crafted during a time of precision timepieces. This watch is not only a historical artifact but also a working piece of mechanical history.
Main features
Materials and cases: The sturdy cases are made of sterling silver and display the charm and patina that suit their age. The bright certification marks (please add the certification marks to your final description) are located on the inside of both the back cover and the inner fabric cover. The inner, gilded fabric cover protects the delicate movement, and the back of the movement is beautifully engraved with floral or decorative patterns.
Watch movement: Inside, there is a high-quality gilded full plate movement. Based on the design, this is most likely a fusee mechanism (snek and chain), an ingenious system that provides a constant power transfer from the mainspring, essential for accuracy in that era.
Winding and functionality: The watch is a traditional key-wound and key-set model, which means it is wound and set with the included key (as seen in the photo). The movement has been checked and is functioning properly.
Condition: The watch is in good, working condition, with light signs of use expected from a cherished antique piece. Any small scratches or tarnish are consistent with its age and add to its authenticity.
This pocket watch is a unique item that makes a valuable addition to any serious collection, or a special piece of jewelry for the enthusiast of traditional watchmaking.
Carefully packed and shipped with track and trace.
