Paleolithic Large Prehistoric Flint Scraper (No reserve price)

Large Prehistoric Flint Scraper Culture Prehistoric Dating Paleolithic – Early Neolithic (circa 100,000 – 4,000 BC) Description Large prehistoric flint tool made from a thick flake of natural siliceous stone, retaining areas of original cortex. The object shows a clearly retouched working edge, created by a series of direct, irregular removals forming a robust lateral scraper. The morphology is asymmetrical and functional, consistent with expedient prehistoric tool production rather than standardized blade industries. The substantial thickness and reinforced edge indicate use in heavy-duty tasks such as hide processing, woodworking, or the working of hard organic materials (bone, antler). Surface patination and edge wear are fully consistent with prolonged prehistoric use and burial. The size of the piece is notable, making it both a functional prehistoric implement and a visually strong example of early stone technology. Condition Intact. No modern breaks or restorations. Natural edge wear, surface patina, and minor ancient removals consistent with age and use. Dimensions Length: approx. 18 cm Provenance Private French collection, formed before 1970.
