A single, original hand-written Persian manuscript page from the Qajar period dating to the late 19th century, with an illuminated miniature and elegant Nastaʿlīq calligraphy in Farsi, un-signed, loose sheet, 43 cm high by 32 cm wide, one page, in good condition.
Description from the seller
A finely illuminated Persian manuscript page from the Qajar era, dated to the late 19th century. The page features a detailed miniature painting and elegant Persian Nastaʿlīq script.
The central miniature depicts a courtly and narrative scene from the Persian epic tradition, featuring noble figures, riders, animals, and symbolic elements such as lions, gazelles, and mythical birds (Simurgh). These motifs represent power, wisdom, and spiritual questing, and are typical of Persian manuscripts from the context of the Shahnameh (Book of Kings).
The margins are richly illustrated and frame the text and image in the traditional Persian manuscript style. The mineral pigments used are well preserved and demonstrate the high quality of the original work.
Such manuscript pages were created in Persia in the late 19th century for educated clients and collectors, reflecting the revival of classical Persian miniature painting during the Qajar era.
It is an original handwritten and hand-painted sheet, not a modern reproduction.
