Description from the seller
Welcome to Passion d'Orient:
The term Kazak is used generically to classify a heterogeneous group of rugs originating from various areas of the Caucasus. 19th-century Kazak rugs were knotted entirely in wool; they were long-pile, lustrous rugs with large, colorful, geometric designs that varied according to the production area. During the 20th century, their beauty, both in terms of color and original, whimsical designs, was rediscovered. These designs were always created from memory by women, passed down from mother to daughter, thus transmitting this great tradition through the centuries. This is how Caucasian rugs began to be appreciated and increasingly sought after by enthusiasts and collectors, reaching remarkable prices and achieving a leading position in the world of Oriental rugs.
Construction: Hand-knotted
Thickness: approximately 8-10 mm
Age: around 1950 (about 65 years)
Origin: Armenia/Russia
Velvet: Wool
Warp: Cotton
Knotting density: approximately 280,000 knots/m2
