The camera unnecessarily focuses when the shutter button is half-pressed; then it gradually goes in and out of focus, and the focus sound is audible. The camera eventually takes the photo, but not immediately. There are also periods when the camera functions normally, but the problem has recurred for me.

This is a common and well-documented problem with the G1.

The Green Label version means that the camera is compatible with the newer Contax G lenses (including 21mm, 28mm, 35mm, 45mm, and 90mm). This is a clear advantage over the early non-Green Label models.
