As an original production material, this artwork is unique, with no duplicates in existence. Created for internal studio use under the direction of Studio Ghibli during the original theatrical production period of Porco Rosso in 1992. This original animation cel features Porco Rosso (Marco Pagot) in a dynamic aerial cockpit scene, capturing the film’s signature sense of motion, mechanical detail, and cinematic framing. Production cels from Porco Rosso are especially sought after due to the film’s hand-painted aviation sequences and its status as one of Studio Ghibli’s most celebrated works. This item is presented interleaved with MicroChamber paper, an archival material used to protect artwork by reducing harmful acids and paint fumes which damage animation cels over time.
