“Beeld in het Louvre” is a 19th‑century mixed‑technique work by Dutch artist Marius Bauer, signed by hand, originating from the Netherlands, with an image size of 34 × 26 cm and framed at 50 × 42 cm.
Description from the seller
Marie Alexandre Jacques (Marius) Bauer (The Hague, January 25, 1867 – Amsterdam, July 18, 1932) was a Dutch painter. He gained great fame with his etchings and lithographs of Eastern scenes and is therefore often considered the Netherlands' most famous orientalist. However, this work is an exception: it shows a sculpture in the Louvre that he traced. This provides an interesting insight into Bauer's working methods and demonstrates how he studied forms and figures before capturing them in his own style on paper.
Dimensions: 34 cm x 26 cm
Dimensions with frame: 50 cm x 42 cm
The work is signed lower left
Viewing is, of course, possible. Additionally, we have our own in-house framing workshop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary. Furthermore, we collaborate with restorers from the professional organization: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you wish to make use of this service, we would of course be happy to hear from you.
