Textile - 180 cm - 40 cm

This is an authentic antique Romanian textile, entirely handmade, originating from a family dowry and preserved through generations. The piece was crafted on a handwoven cotton or linen base, decorated with dense wool embroidery in traditional geometric motifs. The bold zig-zag pattern symbolises protection, continuity and balance, while the vibrant red tones reflect the ceremonial importance of dowry textiles in Romanian rural culture. The textile is finished with original hand-attached fringes and carefully overstitched edges. The central field remains intentionally undecorated, a characteristic feature of traditional dowry and ceremonial textiles. Estimated date: 20th century. Origin: Romania (exact region unknown, family provenance). The textile is in excellent antique condition, with strong colours, intact structure and no visible repairs or alterations. Minor natural folds consistent with age and long-term storage. A rare and genuine example of Romanian folk textile art, suitable for collectors, interior decoration, or ethnographic collections.
