Description from the seller
This extraordinary large-format wall mirror dates from the French Belle-Époque period around 1890–1900 and is a high-quality display piece from a Parisian art cabinetmaker's workshop.
The richly decorated frame made of solid wood features original gilding and finely carved ornaments. The impressive crown displays a figurative representation in mythological symbolism (Putto on a dolphin), framed by ornamental cartouches and balustrade elements – typical of the French late-Napoléon-III and Belle Époque style.
The Spiegel features an original, very large faceted glass with age-related patina, which preserves the authentic character of the object and is appreciated by collectors.
On the back side is an original French quality seal.
Special Architecture – Superior – Grand Prix Paris 1889 – Gold Medal – Paris
