Description from the seller
This work is an exquisite representation of the still life genre, where technical precision and aesthetic sensitivity combine to offer an image full of balance, elegance, and contemplation. The piece presents an apparently simple scene: a glass of water, a cut lemon, and its spiral peel, arranged on a wooden surface. However, beneath this apparent simplicity, the painting conceals a compositional complexity and a mastery of light that reveal profound pictorial skill.
The focus of the scene is on the interplay of transparencies and reflections. The glass, with its rounded and polished shapes, rests on a decorative base of translucent spheres that subtly capture and refract light. This base not only supports the object but also visually elevates it, creating a fascinating contrast between the solid material and the glass. Opposite it, the lemon—half-cut, its peel still snaking—adds a note of freshness, color, and organicity that breaks the geometry of the glass with a spontaneous and natural gesture.
The background, composed of a series of loose brushstrokes in dark, greenish, and earthy tones, creates an intimate and silent atmosphere. This abstract, material texture contrasts with the sharpness of the foreground elements, making the light and volumes stand out even more. The restrained yet effective palette combines ochres, lime greens, grays, and touches of white to provide visual balance.
This work doesn't seek effect, but rather contemplation and harmony. It speaks to the value of simplicity, of the beauty hidden in everyday objects, and of time frozen in a moment of contemplation. It's a painting to be enjoyed in silence, inviting us to look twice and discover, with each observation, a new detail.
A photo showing the framed painting is included. The work will be shipped UNFRAMED.
