E. Suter Basel Aplanat B No.3 lens, f/4-100, dating to ca. 1900–1910, in very good physical condition and tested and working, with clear front and rear elements, rear thread about 45 mm, approx. 8 inches (210–220 mm) focal length, designed for 4x5 and likely 5x7, mounted on a mahogany lensboard 66×110 mm.

Rare E. Suter Basel f/4-100 historical brass lens.
E. SUTER BASEL f/4-100 - APLANAT B No.3 is less common than the normal f/8-100.
Swiss Suter had a strong reputation for excellent aplanats. This is one of them. "Aplanat" is the same as Rapid Rectilinear, which was state-of-the-art at the time. Series B No. 3 has about a 8" (closer to 210mm-220mm) focal length that covers 4x5 and most likely 5x7.
Lens comes retaining ring fixed on mahogany lensboard 66x110 mm
Both front and rear lens elements are clear and without any issues except light cleaning marks. Very good for a 120-year-old lens. The rear thread diameter for that is about 45mm. The lens elements themselves are about 30mm. Both lens elements unscrew easily for cleaning.
