Description from the seller
Avalanche is a groundbreaking New York-made artists’ magazine (1970–1976) that documents the rise of conceptual art, land art, performance, and body art through long, direct interviews with the artists themselves, without mediation by critics. With its characteristic square, black-and-white layout and close-up artist portraits on the cover, Avalanche became a hybrid between a magazine, an artist’s book, and a space for exhibition on paper, and today it is regarded as a key source for the history of the postminimalist avant-garde.
This issue, printed on newsprint, from 1974, is in perfect condition and contains interviews about video and performance, with references to Joseph Beuys, Ulrike Rosenbach, Chris Burden, and Dennis Oppenheim.
Good condition and carefully packed + shipped with tracking.
