The Toshiba SB 620 integrated stereo amplifier, manufactured in 1976, is in good physical condition and tested and working, including a power cord.
Description from the seller
Toshiba SB 620 amplifier with great sound. Very high quality made of full aluminum and metal.Technically flawless sound on both channels. Tested on all inputs. Two phono inputs. Unfortunately optically with major signs of use, the amplifier took a hit during the last move, I tried to repair it as much as possible. See pictures.
The Toshiba SB-620 is an integrated stereo amplifier (often also sold under the Aurex brand name) from 1976, known for its robust construction and high power output.
Features and Specifications
The Toshiba (Aurex) SB-620 features a solid construction, weighing approximately 14 kg. The controls are made of solid, machined aluminum, and the front panel is thicker than most competing products of the era.
Power: It delivers a conservatively rated 65 watts per channel into 8 ohms.
Sound Quality: The unit is praised for its warm yet crystal-clear sound, which delivers deep, tight bass.
Connections: The model offers versatile connectivity, including two phono and two tape inputs, as well as an auxiliary input. The preamplifier and power amplifier sections are separable, and two pairs of speakers can be connected.
Design: The unit features the classic "Silver Face" design of the 1970s and includes sliders for balance, bass, and treble.
Reviews and Availability
Users and experts appreciate the SB-620 as a "tank" and a high-quality device that could compete with top-of-the-line models of its time.
Positive Aspects: The build quality, the durability of components (such as the Alps volume potentiometer), and the power reserves are frequently highlighted.
Availability: The model is considered rare on the used market, suggesting that Toshiba may not have sold many units or that owners are holding onto them due to their quality.
Service Manuals: Service manuals are available online from various retailers, which can be helpful for maintaining this vintage unit.
