A 2018 German cu‑silvered medal marketed as a private Münzbarren, 1 item, UNC (not legal tender), certificate 01770, featuring Helmut Schmidt portrait with the Brandenburg Gate and a stylised Germany map on the obverse and the Brandenburg Gate with a BRD mint symbol on the reverse.
Description from the seller
It is a medal or a so-called "coin bar" and not an official, state-issued coin or legal tender. Such items are sold by private coin dealers, often as part of a collection such as "The German Chancellors" or "Commemorative Issues Germany 2018".
Motif: The front features a portrait of Helmut Schmidt, the Brandenburg Gate, and a stylized map of Germany. Integrated is a gold-coloured, round applique that resembles a 2-euro coin, also with a portrait of Schmidt and the life dates "1918-2015". The inscription "EINIGKEIT RECHT FREIHEIT" is also visible.
The back shows the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, above it a stylized map of Germany and the traditional symbol for coin minting of the BRD, a "G". Wavy lines form the background. The inscription reads, as on German circulation coins, "EINIGKEIT RECHT FREIHEIT".
Material and quality: These bars are often offered in the quality of "Polierte Platte" (PP) and are silver-plated. Encapsulated and with a certificate.
