Description from the seller

“The All-Seeing Eye” (in Russian: Всевидящее Око Божие – Vsevidyáshchee Óko Bózhie), a symbolic motif in Russian Orthodox iconography, especially widespread between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.

Meaning and interpretation

It does not literally represent an “eye,” but the omniscience and providence of God, expressed through symbolic and theological language.

Main elements of the icon

Central face
The human face at the center represents Christ as divine Wisdom (Logos), who sees all and sustains all.

eight-pointed star
It symbolizes the fullness of the created world and the cosmic order under the divine gaze. The number eight also alludes to the eternal day, the eternity of God.

Concentric circles
They represent the heavens, the different levels of creation, and the irradiation of divine grace toward the world.

Angelic figures
The angels surrounding them indicate to the heavenly powers that they carry out God's will and watch over creation.

Top figure
In the upper part, God the Father (Ancient of Days)

Lightning and Glances
The lines emanating from the center express that nothing escapes God's gaze, neither the visible nor the invisible.

It spread mainly in Russia and in circles of popular spirituality, as a moral and spiritual reminder: God sees the heart of man.

Even so, it is a fully Christian icon, with no relation to modern esoteric symbols or Freemasons, although they are sometimes confused.

Theological summary

God sees all, knows all, and governs all with wisdom and love.

An authenticity certificate is provided, endorsed by the Ministry of Culture of Estonia.
