Counterpoint SA-1000 tube preamplifier with phono stage, manufactured in 1993, in very good physical condition and tested and working, housed in a black 19" rackmount chassis, serial number 7133, dimensions 12.8 cm (H) × 48.3 cm (W) × 35.5 cm (D), weight 6.5 kg, no extras included.
Description from the seller
Outstanding tube-preamplifier with a phono stage in a black 19" rackmount chassis, exhibiting a typically american engaging sound. Hybrid circuitry with two double triodes (I replaced the 12AX7 with a far superior Siemens ECC 83) and a 6DJ8 tube. Very well-maintained cosmetic and technical condition with only minor signs of use. See recently taken photos. A copy of the owner's manual is included.
The SA-1000, from left to right, offers the essentials and nothing more: a source selector choosing between phono setting and three line sources, a tape monitor switch, balance, volume, mute and power on/off. No complaints here, as that's all you need, though I wouldn't have minded a polarity inversion switch on a product from a company which championed the facility. The only unusual facility is the choice of phono settings, the unit arriving in a high gain mode ideal for the majority of moving coils. To configure the SA-1000 for the low gain setting, for high output cartridges, you simply remove a couple of internal shunts which connect pins on the circuit board behind the input selector. This activates the low gain setting while deactivating the high gain option. Not at the selection switch on the front, even though it is confusingly labelled. Counterpoint feels that keeping both active would degrade the sound, so the user makes a choice.
I ship securely and well-padded via DHL.
