Armchair - Oak - Late 19th Cent Oak chair

Late 19th Century Oak Armchair with Rush Seat – Turned Legs – circa 1890 A solid and attractive late 19th century oak armchair, dating circa 1880–1900. This armchair is crafted from solid oak and features elegantly turned baluster legs, connected by a matching stretcher, giving the chair excellent stability. The seat consists of an original hand-woven rush (seagrass) seat, still in good and usable condition. The open back is designed with gently curved vertical splats and a rounded top rail, showing subtle hand-finished details typical of late 19th-century craftsmanship. The chair is constructed using traditional mortise-and-tenon joints, without modern screws. The oak shows a warm natural patina with honest signs of age and use, consistent with its period. Structurally sound and fully functional, this chair is suitable for daily use as well as decorative placement in a classic or modern interior. This armchair is offered as a single lot. A matching example is available in a separate auction. Dimensions Height: 98 cm Seat height: 46 cm Width: 60 cm Depth: 50 cm Condition Good overall antique condition Original rush seat intact Minor wear consistent with age No active woodworm observed Shipping Carefully packed and shipped with protective materials.
