Large hand-painted earthenware wall plate by Tichelaar Makkum, dating from ca. 1950–1960, with a rich polychrome floral and classical ornament, diameter 35.5 cm, depth 6 cm, weight 1,573 g, in good used condition with minor signs of aging, backmarked with the Makkum shield, model/decornumber 1055, painter’s monogram, and the original Focke & Meltzer Amsterdam shop sticker, and equipped with a hanging hook.

Very beautiful and large hand-painted decorative plate by Tichelaar Makkum, rendered in a rich polychrome decoration with floral motifs and classical ornamentation. The plate is a fine example of traditional Frisian pottery from the postwar period.
The reverse is marked with the shield mark “Makkum”, a model/decoration number (1055) and a painter's monogram, indicating full hand painting. It also bears the original shop sticker from Focke & Meltzer in Amsterdam, at the time a renowned specialty store for glassware and tableware.
A substantial and decorative wall plaque of high quality, suitable for the collector or as a striking interior piece.
