In many cultures they are regarded as true lucky talismans—those that have been used and worn by horses—as it is believed they have absorbed the energy and vigor of the horse itself, and as a universal symbol of fortune and protection, often displayed on the walls of houses or at the gates of residences or simply kept at home.
There are evident signs of wear that only time and true use can bestow upon it.
