antique oak table from the late 19th century (approximately 1870–1900)
Turned legs: The heavy, bulbously turned legs are typical of the Neo-Renaissance style, which was popular in the 19th century and harked back to 16th-century forms.
Richly carved rail: The edge beneath the leaf features hand-carved decoration (garlands/foliate motifs), which indicates artisanal workmanship and not mass production.
Connecting beams with intermediate balusters: The H-shaped construction with small spindles in between provided extra stiffness and was intended to be decorative.
