Description from the seller

Ancient Egypt – Late Period (c. 717–332 BCE)
Faience ushabti with hieroglyphs

Beautiful and authentic Egyptian ushabti from the Late Period, made of faience with a distinctive mint-green patina. The figure is depicted in a mummiform posture, with crossed arms and a meticulously modeled face. The details of the wig and the face are clearly recognizable.

The front features multiple columns of hieroglyphs, probably a variant of the so-called Ushabti chapter (Chapter 6 of the Book of the Dead), in which the ushabti is invoked to perform tasks in the afterlife for the deceased. On the reverse, a clearly painted back pillar is visible, which is typical of ushabtis from this period.
