Description from the seller
A photo of a historic moment, an incredible snapshot that immortalizes the historic passage of the airship over the territories of the city of Amsterdam.
In 1929, the famous German Graf Zeppelin (LZ-127) flew over Amsterdam on October 14, as part of its historic world tour, in a promotional flight of that era, an event that sparked great enthusiasm and was immortalized in photographs and in the famous painting "The Zeppelin" by Dutch painter Carel Willink, which captured the majestic airship above the city, symbolizing the era of aviation.
In the photograph you can observe, in all its majesty, the airship, the city skyline, and also catch a glimpse of a Fokker IX that entered production in the depths of that year. A rare photo for enthusiasts of historical photographs and aviation.
On the back, handwritten, a mini letter accompanying the stunning photo: "For Hans, Graf Zeppelin over Amsterdam on September 13, 1929. The church tower is that of Oranjekerk...Farewell Uncle Jaap".
