The Lancia Gamma belongs to the last models from a time when Lancia still fully clung to its own quirky, forward-thinking engineering philosophy. Instead of conventional solutions, Lancia chose technical refinement, comfort and character. The Gamma Coupé, designed by Pininfarina, stands out with its timeless, sculptural lines, low nose and elegant proportions.

Hidden beneath the bodywork is one of Lancia’s most distinctive choices: a low-mounted four-cylinder boxer engine, developed to lower the center of gravity and improve handling. In combination with the comfortable yet luxurious finish — in which Italian elegance is central — this made the Gamma an alternative that BMWs and Audis from that period almost seemed dull by comparison.

The absolute enthusiast’s version is the 2.5-liter Boxer with a manual transmission. Due to the heavy Italian tax on engines over 2000 cc, most Gammas were delivered with the 2.0-liter engine. The 2.5L was reserved for buyers who wanted the best, regardless of the cost. It is precisely this version that today is the most sought-after and collectible.

This example was first registered in 1981 in Italy and was imported and registered in the Netherlands in 2024. The car is finished in classic metallic silver, paired with a stunning blue velour interior, with the seats still retaining their correct 'L' finish.

This is a manual Coupe with the desirable 2.5-liter Boxer, which from new has driven only 73,916 km. The Gamma has a valid Dutch APK until January 23, 2027 and has been brought up to full technical order to meet Dutch registration requirements.

Finding a solid, unrestored and rust-free Lancia Gamma is exceptionally difficult. And when you come across one in Italy, it’s almost always the 2.0 liter version. This example is the exception to that. Newly purchased by a wealthy Italian who at the time wanted the best possible specification, the car stayed in Italy until 2024 and was regularly used, but still shows only 73,885 km from new.

After decades of careful use, the previous owner decided to say goodbye. One of our enthusiastic customers encountered the car on a vacation under the Italian sun – the negotiations went quickly and warmly, and were sealed with sun-kissed handshakes.
Since then the car has been registered in the Netherlands and has been thoroughly inspected mechanically. As is often the case with Italian classics that have stood for years in a warm climate, the paint shows signs of sun exposure. In contrast, there is a beautifully original interior, excellent mechanical condition, and the desirable combination of the 2.5L boxer engine with a manual gearbox—which transforms the Gamma into a rare and particularly pleasant driving car.
