ArtBrut by Ann - Mickey ILY Fashion

My work, "Mickey ILY Fashion," is a conscious continuation of the Pop Art tradition, drawing on the legacy of masters who elevated everyday objects and mass-market icons to the status of art. Much like Andy Warhol's analysis of the soup can, I subject the archetype—the universal icon of childhood, Mickey Mouse—to a sociological reworking, placing it in dialogue with the aesthetics of contemporary luxury. The central part of the sculpture, characterized by a shiny, black, mirrored surface, serves as a symbolic screen reflecting our global fascination with consumption and brands. The use and fragmentation of luxury fashion house logos (such as Chanel and Gucci) is not accidental decoration; it is a substantive commentary and reinterpretation of the nature of branding. Logos cease functioning as trademarks, but instead transform into an abstract pattern—a chaotic yet intricately arranged stained-glass skin covering the innocent form of Mickey Mouse. The work deliberately provokes reflection on the hierarchy of values, questioning whether the power of a global corporation is today more powerful than the pop culture icon itself. This motif contrasts with the traditional, almost Japanese patterns (Irezumi) visible on the ears and feet, introducing an element of age-old craftsmanship and beauty, creating a fundamental duality between High Culture (Handcraft) and Mass Culture (Logos and Mickey). In the era of 3D printing and mass replication, I place fundamental emphasis on handcraft and the artisanal process. Unlike machine techniques, each piece of artwork is individually cut and meticulously applied to a resin mold. This application is then repeatedly infused with transparent layers of epoxy resin, providing extraordinary optical depth and a distinctive, glazed sheen. This method is deliberately time-consuming and requires absolute precision, ensuring that each sculpture in this series is unique. Through this commitment to the process, I evoke the value of unique artwork, opposing mass reproduction, and emphasize the value of the human touch in a world dominated by mechanization. For collectors, it's crucial that this piece is part of a strictly limited edition and will be delivered with an original Certificate of Authenticity, confirming its provenance and unique value. @ArtBrut by Ann https://www.youtube.com/shorts/oKae6zfDLn8
