Description from the seller
Important Ligurian console table in carved and gilded wood with marble top – 18th century (1760-1790)
Refined antique Louis XV console from the Ligurian area, datable between 1760 and 1790. The piece stands out for the exceptional quality of the carving and the richness of the original gilding. The two-legged design is typical of wall consoles intended for the salons of noble palaces of the period.
Technical Features
• Style: Ligurian Baroque / Louis XV.
Base material: finely carved wood and gilded with gold leaf. The stem features a richly decorative rocaille ornamentation, with C- and S-shaped volutes, floral motifs and interlaced leaves that form a central openwork of great visual lightness yet strong structural solidity.
• Top: Marble carved with substantial thickness, with a molded edge in an owl’s-beak profile. The marble features natural veining in shades of gray and beige, perfectly integrated with the tone of the gilding.
• Supports: Two moving legs (en cabriole) that end with curled feet, joined by a richly decorated central crosspiece.
Documentation and Provenance:
The object is accompanied by an authenticity certificate on letterhead, signed by the expert Maurizio Siniscalco (Naples), dated November 25, 2009. The document confirms its Ligurian origin and dating to the eighteenth century (1760-1790).
Condition
The item is in good overall condition considering its age. The gilding shows a beautiful antique patina with small signs of wear that attest to its authenticity. No major structural damages are evident. (Note: If there are any previous restorations or small losses in the gilding, specify them here).
