Frame - Gold plated - Neo-Baroque style

Wooden picture frame with richly worked neobaroque ornamentation, characterized by floral motifs, soft rocaille forms, and a warm gold-brown patina. The profiling is classically built with a slightly recessed inner frame and subtly carved corner and central ornaments.

The frame is crafted in the historicizing tradition that was popular around the turn of the century, in which there was deliberate reference to 18th-century stylistic forms. The whole shows natural aging, appropriate to its age, and is in good, stable condition.

Suitable for paintings from the 19th and early 20th centuries, and aesthetically appropriate for both classical and museum displays.
