Description from the seller
2 garnet earrings / new
Set in 925 sterling silver
Weight: 0.90 g / 4.5 ct
5.2 mm x 5.2 mm x 15.3 mm
new and unworn
The garnet group (short garnets) is an important group of rock-forming minerals from the mineral class of 'silicates and germanates.' Structurally, garnets belong to the nesosilicates (island silicates).
Within the garnet supergroup, which includes all minerals that crystallize with the garnet structure, even those from other mineral classes (e.g., halides, hydroxides), the garnet group encompasses all minerals with 12 positive charges per formula unit at the Z-position. Currently (2013), these are only silicates.
Garnet minerals mostly crystallize in the cubic crystal system and predominantly form isometric crystals with characteristic shapes of the rhombic dodecahedron (also historically known as garnet dodecahedron), icositetrahedron, and their combinations.
Shipping as insured registered mail.
